So now comes the best part of this journey.
After driving 3 hours, picking up a U-Haul Truck & Trailer, then driving another hour to the sellers home in Schenectady, NY the seller cannot find the key so we cannot start the car, drive the car or even turn the steering wheel so we can push it onto the trailer or see if it even runs!
So we decide to go and grab some lunch and give the guy some time to find the key. So we go down to the street to this little pizza place which had the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. It was phenomenal!
I get a text from the seller, he is running to a locksmith to get a key made. That makes me happy and confident that the day is going to get better. An hour goes by and I get a text from the seller telling me that they are almost home and to head back to the house now. Hell yeah we are about to get out of here or so I thought....
We head back to the house and the seller is sitting in the car looking confused. The key does not work... It works in the door of the car but not in the ignition so at some point the ignition was changed. So now in my head I am thinking "Is this all because the engine is blown and the seller does not want me to know and he is trying to screw me" or do I trust this seller that the car runs and drives and he actually just cant find the key. He swears up and down "It was running fine 3 days ago!I"
We decided that we were not going to waste the day and we needed to figure out some way to get this car onto the trailer. After much discussion we decided to break the steering column and just get the car on the trailer and deal with fixing it when we got back home.
About 8 people pushed the car onto the trailer, it was strapped down and we were on our way back to Pawtucket, RI.
Project 1G was purchased on 1/4/2020 in Schenectady, NY. and loaded onto the trailer. I feel like we scored for what we paid for the car. It is a great starting point for a really dependable street/race car.
Already planned is adding the JMF Drag Intake Manifold, S90 Throttle Body, Full Coilover Suspension, CTS-V 4 Piston Brake Upgrade w/ 13" Rotors, EVO 8 OEM Enkei wheels w/ Hoosier QTP Slicks, full roll cage & much much more. This car will run a single digit quarter mile pass in 2020 and we will document it all.
Stay tuned for whats to come!!
